The Journey Begins

I arrived yesterday morning in Sydney and then flew to Melbourne. Melbourne is in the State of Victoria, and is at the far South end of Australia on the coast of the Tasman Sea. If you go South of Melbourne across the Tasman Sea, you’ll run right smack into Tasmania. The very first noticeable thing about being in Australia is that Australians drive on the right.

The hotel we’re staying in, The Savoy Hotel, is beautiful. Having been on many tours in the past, especially across Europe, you can never anticipate what you’re going to get in the way of accommodations. I was pleasantly surprised.

Our tour group met last night for dinner and introductions. There are 29 people on the tour, all older couples, with 3 “single” women, myself included. I am the second youngest on the tour, so boy howdy, do I feel special :-).

I look forward to sharing my journey with all my friends and family as all of you encouraged me to take this leap of faith and start my year with this big adventure. I don’t know much about blogging, so bear with me as I figure out how to make this site easier to navigate, and more ascetically pleasing.

Love to all!

Hey, We’re on the wrong side of the road…and you’re driving on the wrong side of the car!

  1. I’m so excited for you!!! You have such an incredible adventure ahead of you!!! I wish I could be there for it!

That is an *incredibly* nice hotel!!! I wish the hotels we stayed in when I went to Italy/Greece were that nice. My hotel room in Athens had a broken door lock!
