Kia Ora

Sunday, January 27, 2019

“Kia Ora is an expression in the Māori language, and simple means “hello”. Literally translated it has a meaning of “be well or healthy”.

Today we flew to Queenstown, New Zealand, and then drove to Te Anau.  New Zealand is made up of North and South Island, as the Kiwi’s refer to the 2 main land bodies.  And, yes, New Zealanders do call themselves kiwis.  Te Anau is on South island towards the South end on the West side.  Once we arrived in New Zealand we had another time change forwarding 2 hours.

Y’all, New Zealand is gorgeous.  It’s lush, green, floral, and beautiful.  The total population of New Zealand is about 7 million, and of those 7 million, about 1.5 million live in Auckland.  So that leaves about 5 million spread across the rest of New Zealand.  The climate is also wonderful.  It was about 80 degrees today, and this is considered a heat wave.  It’s typically between 70 and 75.

Tomorrow, we have a fun day planned.  We will be going to see the Gloworm Caves and Milton Sound.

Love to All!
